Individuals recently have been receiving emails that contain fraudulent information stating that the owner’s credit card has been suspended.
The message continues on to state that activating the card is “quick and easy” and that they have “suspended it for your protection.”
The email then requests the user to complete a downloaded form that is attached to the original message and provide personal information including Social Security number, mother’s maiden name, credit card number and PIN.
KCSD detectives stated the most recent information was provided by local citizens who do not currently own a credit card and immediately knew that it was a scam attempt on their email account.[[In-content Ad]]
