She was born April 12, 1945, in Richland, Wash., to Paul and Pauline Levernier. On July 16, 1983, she married Darrell Bales, who died Aug. 21, 2008.
A lifetime Syracuse resident, she graduated from Syracuse High School and attended Western Michigan University and International Business College, Fort Wayne. She owned Bale's Butcher, Shop, Syracuse, and worked for the former Liberty Homes and attorney Robert Reed. She was a member of St. Andrews United Methodist Church.
Surviving are a son, Christopher Bales, Syracuse; her father, Paul Levernier, Syracuse; a sister, Shirley Levernier (and spouse Larry) Halbach, Indianapolis; a stepson, Dan (and spouse Becky) Bales, Goshen; two stepdaughters, Marcy Ernest, Goshen, and LuAnn (and spouse Gary) Hershberger, Millersburg; and four step-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be at 3 p.m. Sunday at Eastlund Funeral Home, Syracuse. Burial will be private.
Calling is from 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
