In response to Mr. Metzger's letters, I would like to say, it seems he had good intentions. There are a few sites that you can go to that you put your zip code in. It will list all the registered sex offenders in your area.

A free site right here in Kosciusko County is www.kosciuskosheriff.com Under links, select Offender Registry, then follow the instructions on the next page. You can also do a search for Megan's Law and Zachary's Law. I have copied what is written about Zachary's Law off the Sheriff's site.

Effective Jan. 1, 2003, Zachary's Law requires sheriff departments to jointly establish and maintain the Indiana Sheriffs' Sex Offender Registry to provide detailed information about individuals who register as sex or violent offenders at Indiana sheriff departments (or, in Marion County, the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department). The purpose of the registry is to inform the general public about the identity, location and appearance of sex and violent offenders who live, work or study in Indiana.

Zachary's Law is named for Zachary Snider of Cloverdale, Ind. Zachary was 10 years old when he was murdered by a convicted child molester in 1993.

Please remember this site is not used to find and harass the individuals, but it is used for the purpose in helping us to make sure our children are safe and aware of any possible danger. Maybe the sheriff's department or someone could hold a seminar on "How to talk to your child about a Registered Sex Offender" or "Keeping your child safe from predators," just to name a few.
