Sewer Easements

Editor, Times-Union:
I would like to respond to Friday’s edition about the 600 sewer district easements.
I have lived 15 years by Kuhn Lake, part of this easement to be.
I live 100 yards off a channel and am being forced into this situation as a lot of other residents who have nothing to do with the lakes. I am a single resident. I put seven gallons a day of water into my septic that was put in, in 1989. I do not think my septic is bad. Why should I be forced into paying $69 a month for sewer?
In a five-year period property owners voted three times 90 percent plus “no” to this sewer.
What happened was Doctor Dick and others who made up this board have property on Barbee who want to build condos and get rich while us middle class and retired cannot afford such an ordeal.
I moved here 15 years ago from a subdivision of Lake Wawasee that went through the same thing.
Back 15 years ago it started out $37 a month. It was almost doubled in 15 years, so if we start out at $69 a month now then in 10 years when I retire I can figure on paying more than $100 a month for sewage alone.
When they first passed this ordeal they said you could put a meter on your line and pay per gallon. Now at this sign-up session they say you cannot do this. This is just another case of money talks as I see it, shaft the working and retired, again thanks to Doctor Dick and his friends.
