Senator Delph To Speak About Immigration To Silent No More Group

Delph will speak at New Life Christian Church, 744 S. CR 325E, Warsaw, in the sanctuary at 7 p.m.
Delph is a seventh-generation Hoosier with his family coming from Kentland, Frankfort and Wilkinson, Ind.
He is a life-long resident of Carmel, and is the first member of his family to graduate from college.
Elected in a special election in December 2005 to serve the remainder of Murray Clark's term. Clark stepped down to work in the private sector. Delph was re-nominated in May 2006 by the Republican Party. He was re-elected in November 2006 by the voters in Senate District 29 to his first full term.
Delph has led the fight in the Senate to eliminate lifetime healthcare benefits for legislators, ethics reform and redistricting reform.
As a result, Common Cause of Indiana named Delph as one of only two Legislators of the Year in 2010, awarding him its Mr. Clean Award.
Delph has carried into law legislation dealing with local government reform, military and veterans issues, freedom of speech issues and laws protecting children.
In 2006, Delph was named Legislator of the Year by the Disabled American Veterans in addition to being awarded the Distinguished Public Service Award by the American Legion.
Delph has championed legislation cracking down on businesses who knowingly and willingly hire illegal immigrants and legislation to move the school start date well beyond the first weeks of August.
Delph has served nine years in the U.S. Army Reserve, earning the Army Commendation Medal, Joint Service Achievement Medal and Army Achievement Medal for outstanding leadership in his capacity as a Medical Service Corps officer and military intelligence officer.
Delph is the president and founder of MA Advisory Group Inc., a strategic planning organization, that he intends to more rigorously launch upon completion of his legal studies.
He served as a senior congressional aide for eight years both in Washington, D.C., and in Indiana and then three years as an executive with a Fortune 100 company handling local cable franchise negotiations.
Delph was named a Sagamore of the Wabash in January 2005.
Academically, Delph earned his bachelor's degree from Indiana University in 1992 after graduating from Carmel High School in 1988.
In 1996, he earned both his master's degree in environmental science and master's degree in public affairs from Indiana University.
Delph anticipates earning his law degree in December from the Indiana University School of Law at Indianapolis where he was named the 2010-2011 Judge Cale J. Holder Merit Scholar and a member of the Order of the Barristers.
Delph has traveled extensively throughout the world serving as an election observer with the International Republican Institute and a senior staffer for the House Committee on Government Reform.
