In the wake of major investment scams like the one perpetrated by Bernie Madoff, Indiana Secretary of State Todd Rokita's office is hosting a free investment fraud workshop for Warsaw-area residents Tuesday from 6 to 7 p.m. at the Ivy Tech-Warsaw campus at 3755 Lake City Highway.
In this workshop, participants will gain a better understanding of investment fraud, how to recognize a scam in progress and how to report instances of fraud.
This workshop is free and open to the public.
Rokita created the program Indiana Investment Watch to increase financial literacy in Hoosiers and to educate them about the various types of securities and mortgage loan broker fraud. The program is not funded by taxpayer dollars, but rather by the money collected from settlements in securities fraud cases. For more information, visit www.IndianaInvestmentWatch.com
If you feel you have been the victim of investment fraud, call the Secretary of State's Securities Division at 800-223-8791.
