The Second Amendment states: A well regulated militia being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed. You need to remember that when the Second Amendment was adopted in 1791, the Revolution was around a decade since it had ended and we had a small army and navy to defend the new nation from the invasion carried out by another nation. The citizens had to be armed and proficient with their weapons in order to fight against an invading force. The sons of the citizen soldiers that had fought against the British fought against the British from 1812 to 1815. If they hadn’t been proficient with their weapons, they would have wound up dead.
There have been decades of attacks on the Second Amendment. First, the amendment doesn’t apply to just soldiers and peace officers. The citizens were to be in the militia and had to be armed. On the farm, my dad kept his weapons upstairs where he could grab one and go outside to shoot raccoons that went after the corn. There was no way my sister or I were going to touch those guns because we knew they were deadly. If he had chosen to join the Indiana National Guard, he might have been inducted.
If I had a permit, I might have bought a cap and ball pistol at Silver Dollar City outside Branson. Mo. I would have fired it on the practice range. Courts have made that impossible in many places in America, which infringes on the right for citizens to be armed.
Obama says the fear that our government wants to disarm the citizens so it can declare marshal law is a conspiracy. That would be like saying Obamacare will remove the health care choices, and doctors people have access to. Since that fear has been justified, the gun control restrictions have a potential of becoming reality if Obama inflicts them upon America. He never said he would have the police disarm gang members and other criminals; including those his administration has allowed into this country. And no gun zones are as effective as no bear zones in the wilderness of Alaska.
People that remain disarmed by the government are being killed by people Obama admits we can’t stop from being armed. If the assault weapons ban couldn’t keep China from selling AK-47 assault weapons to Americans, expect criminals to keep getting their hands on illegal weapons. Pray that injection reactors don’t become available to criminals because they could be used in charged particle beam weapons that are more potent than lasers.
The one promise Obama made that he is keeping, fundamentally changing this nation, is proving to be an enormous mistake. I’m afraid disarming the citizens is part of the promise he intends on keeping. Ruling by executive order is a type of dictatorship Obama enjoys doing. He must be controlled.
