Scarbeary Opens Columbia City Dealership

COLUMBIA CITY - A Wawasee High School graduate recently entered into his first business venture.

When City Chevrolet opened in Columbia City Nov. 1, it started a new chapter for Jim Scarbeary.

Scarbeary grew up in Syracuse and went to Wawasee High School.

Scarbeary has been in the auto business for more than 10 years.

He teamed up with Doug McKibben of Fort Wayne to open City Chevrolet.

It's located where Thomson's car sales used to be at 3040 E. Business 30 in Columbia City.

Scarbeary said his goal is to build his dealership to have hundreds of cars on his 88-acre lot.

"In my radio ads I say we are the fastest growing dealership in Northeast Indiana," said Scarbeary. "Our goal is to be in the hundreds of cars."

The inventory has already been grown to 100 cars.

"We have everything Chevy and everything pre-owned," said Scarbeary. "We also hope to have Buick and Cadillac back."

City Chevrolet has 30 employees on staff that includes a seven-person sales staff.

It also has a service center that takes care of vehicles of all makes and models.

City Chevrolet is open Monday, Tuesday and Thursday from 8:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday and Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Saturdays it is open from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.
