The SBA will open an office in the Nappanee Public Library, 157 N. Main St., Friday to provide loan counseling and assistance for loan applicants. Two types of loan applications will be available - economic injury loans, which deal with loss of income due to damage in a business setting, and physical damage loans which deal with damage to the structure and content of homes.
Starting Friday, SBA office will be open 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Friday and, this Saturday only, the office will be open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Nappanee Mayor Larry Thompson said he thinks the SBA's assistance will be helpful.
"We think there may be some individuals who were underinsured or who have expanded their business properties," Thompson said. "We may have some businesses who can reorganize and take advantage of it."
Thompson said he encourages any resident or business owner who has questions about whether or not they are eligible for an SBA loan to visit the library and talk with SBA personnel.
When visiting the SBA office, applicants are asked to bring the following documentation: an itemized list of losses with repair or replacement estimates, copies of tax returns, personal financial statements and a contractor's estimate for repairing structural damage. If applicable, also include business and financial statements and a brief history of the business.
