SOUTH BEND - Sarah Shideler Shirk, 90, of Mishawaka, died at 10:40 a.m. March 9, 2009, in Miller's Merry Manor, Warsaw.

She was born June 11, 1918, in Cynthiana, Ky., to Ezra Wells and Lucy Rena Harney McCauley. In 1945, in South Bend, she married Harry Shideler, who died in 1973. In 1976, in South Bend, she married Kenneth C. Shirk, who died in 1979.

In 1978, she retired from 1st Source Bank and Trust Co., where she was an auditor. She was a member of Mishawaka Women's Club, where she served as registrar and was also a member of the Fraternal Order of the Elks, where she served as treasurer.

Surviving are two stepdaughters, Jeannine Booher, Los Angeles, Calif., and Nancy Joe Wagoner, Fair Oaks, Calif.; six step-grandchildren; a sister, Margaret Wilson, Cynthiana; and two brothers, Thomas J. McCauley, Cynthiana, and Herschel S. McCauley, Orlando, Fla.; and several nieces and nephews, including James and Peggy Keeton, Warsaw.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Palmer Funeral Home, Guisinger Chapel, 3718 S. Michigan St., South Bend, with Brother Clinton Douglas officiating. Burial will be in Lancaster Cemetery, Huntington.

Calling is one hour prior to the service Thursday at the funeral home.
