ROANOKE, Va. – Sarah Elizabeth Earles Dillon, 91, Daleville, Va., died May 6, 2014, at her residence following a long illness.
She was born Feb. 6, 1923, in Cooper, W.Va., to Joseph Green and Nomie Bird Earles. She was married to Jack N. Dillon, who died May 6, 1992.
She lived in the Roanoke Valley most of her life. She was a hostess at the Roanoke Restaurant for many years before retiring. She was a former member of Ghent Grace Brethren Church and volunteered at The Clothes Closet. She enjoyed playing cards with her husband and enjoyed her grandkids.
She is survived by two sons, Joseph (and spouse Carole) and Charles H. (and spouse Susan) Dillon, all of Roanoke; two daughters, Martha Tusing (and Jim Mayer), Warsaw, and Rebecca (and spouse Roger) Lakes, Daleville; a daughter-in-law, Dagmar Maroney, Roanoke; 14 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; and 14 great-great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by her parents; a grandson, James S. “Jimbo” Dillon; and great-grandson, Brent Michael Kelly.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today at Lotz Funeral Home, 1001 Franklin Road, Roanoke, with the Revs. Don Eshelman and Danny Wright officiating. Burial is in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens.
Calling is from noon to 2 p.m. today at the funeral home.
