GRANGER – Sandra S. Farris, 77, Granger, passed away at 8:08 p.m. Aug. 12, 2014, at her daughter’s home in Mishawaka.
She was born July 18, 1937, in Cromwell, to Virgil R. and Anna M. Priest Kistler. On May 5, 1956, at Calvary Evangelical Church, Cromwell, she married Phillip L. Farris, who preceded her in death.
She graduated from Cromwell High School with the class of 1955. Following high school, she worked at Wirk Garment in Ligonier. In 1961 she started working at Bendix in South Bend, retiring in 1993. She had been a member of the American Legion Post 308 in Oceola and DAV Auxiliary in Goshen.
Survivors include her son, Phillip Douglas (and spouse Sharon) Farris, South Bend; a daughter, Armentha Louise (and spouse David) Dean, Mishawaka; two sisters, Frances E. Becker, South Bend, and E. Darlene Alvord, Lakeland, Fla.; a brother, Arthur W. Kistler, Lauderhill, Fla.; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Gerald L. and D. Lawrence Kistler.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at DeMoney-Grimes Countryside Park Funeral Home, 600 Countryside Drive, Columbia City. Burial is in Thorn Cemetery, Ormas.
Calling is from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
