SYRACUSE – Sandra J. “Sandy” MacPherson Johnson, 85, Syracuse, passed away at 11:29 a.m. Jan. 3, 2016, at Miller’s Merry Manor, Syracuse.
She was born Feb. 6, 1930, in Fort Wayne, to Roy Powers and Bertha Lear MacPherson. On April 22, 1951, in Warsaw, she married Billy Joe Johnson, who preceded her in death in 1999.
She graduated in 1948 from Glenn H. Curtiss Memorial High School, Hammondsport, N.Y., and attended International Business College of Fort Wayne.  She was formerly employed with Blue Bell, Weatherhead and Precision Plastics, all of Columbia City; Miller’s Merry Manor, Syracuse; and pressed clothes at her home for many years. She moved in 1988 to the Syracuse and Nappanee area. She formerly lived in Columbia City, Warsaw and Fort Wayne areas.
She was formerly a member of Calvary Temple of Fort Wayne and Church of the Brethren in Syracuse. She enjoyed riding horses when she was young, reading, and singing in the church choir and as a soloist.
Surviving are two daughters, Kellie (and spouse Glenn) Laughlin, New Paris, and Janice Monnier, Warsaw; one son, Bruce (and spouse Terrie) Johnson, Churubusco; six grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; one step-grandchild and five step great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by her parents, one son, Roy Johnson, and one granddaughter, Nicole Johnson.
Services will be at 7 p.m. Wednesday in Owen Family Funeral Home, Syracuse, with Pastor Brad Cox of the Wawasee Lakeside Chapel officiating. Cremation will take place at Cremation Services of Kosciusko County, Warsaw.
Calling is from 6 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
