Sanders Announces Intention To Seek County Council Seat

By DAVID SLONE, Times-Union Staff Writer-

Robert G. Sanders, Republican, announced today his intention to seek a seat on the Kosciusko County Council as an at-large member.

Sanders indicated his decision to run for the county council is motivated by his desire to give back to the community that has been his home for 25 years. He said he believes his experience as a small business owner has taught him the importance of using financial resources prudently and having a vision as one plans for the future.

His business expertise, along with his involvement in the budgeting and planning of various civic and charitable organizations, has prepared him to guide the county through the challenges faced by county government.

As a real estate title abstractor, he works with several county offices on a daily basis, which he says gives him insight and knowledge of the inner workings of the county. His profession also provides him with detailed information about county growth patterns and familiarity with variances, zoning regulations and the property tax structure.

His past civic involvements include serving as an officer of the Warsaw/Kosciusko Chamber of Commerce, Kosciusko Development Inc., Warsaw Community Development Corp. and Housing Opportunities of Warsaw.

Sanders currently serves as vice president of the Warsaw Board of Aviation Commissioners and again is sitting on the KDI board as vice chairman.

A Kosciusko County resident since 1979, Sanders moved here from Indianapolis. He is the president and co-owner of Bodkin Abstract Co. Inc. He and his wife Sharon reside near Barbee Lake and have three children and six grandchildren. [[In-content Ad]]
