Samuel W. Cooper, 71, Leesburg, died at 3:50 p.m. March 20, 2016, in Mason Health and Rehabilitation Center, Warsaw.
He was born Aug. 17, 1944, in Muncie, to Lemuel and Helen Cameron Cooper. On Oct. 27, 1985, in Louisville, Ky., he married Shelba J. Gunter, who survives in Leesburg.
He was a 1962 graduate of Muncie Central High School.
He was a mechanic with McGraw Equipment for 15 years, retiring in 2012. He had also worked as a mechanic for Dennis Polk Equipment.
He attended Agape Fellowship, Bremen, enjoyed   NASCAR and had raced at the Warsaw Speedway years ago. He loved his family – especially enjoyed being with his grandchildren.
Also surviving are three sons: Rick (and spouse Vonda) and Rusty Cooper, all of Eaton, and Eddie (and spouse Tammy) Stapleton, Warsaw; two daughters, Robin (and spouse Brad) Brenaman, Eaton, and Tina Rodenbeck (and companion, Phil Schafer), Marion; three sisters: Carol, Ellen and Helen Pearl, all of Muncie; two brothers, John Cooper, Warsaw, and Ronnie Cooper, Cambridge City; 13 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Tonya Underhill, who died Aug. 9, 2010; a brother, Danny Cooper; and two grandchildren.
A memorial service will be at a later date. No calling is planned.
