The couple have six children: Carolyn Blackford, Warsaw; Kay Pearson, Oklahoma; Jerry Sainer, Rochester; Thom Sainer, Ohio; Tina Schockey, Arkansas; and Charles W. Sainer, who is deceased. They have 24 grandchildren, 38 great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren.
