INDIANAPOLIS - Ryland Paul Roesch, MD, 88, of Indianapolis, and formerly of this area, died Sept. 6, 2009.

He was born July 4, 1921, in Indianapolis, to Herman P. and Ruby G. Dow Roesch. He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Nancy Daniel Roesch.

He was retired from Indiana University School of Medicine as associate professor department of anesthesiology. He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving in the Philippines during World War II. He returned to complete medical school and practice family medicine in several Indiana communities, most notably Warsaw from 1951-59. His association with I.U. School of Medicine began thereafter and continued until his retirement in 1991.

Also surviving are three sons, Thomas (and spouse Theresa), Richard (and spouse Laura) and Charles (and spouse Terri); and two grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son and three siblings.

No services are planned as he requested.
