She was born Oct. 21, 1910, in Furnace County, Neb., to Minard and Estelle Coplen Gates. On Feb. 6, 1930, she married Carl J. Schrader, who died July 5, 1982.
She graduated in 1929 from Pierceton High School. She made her first home on a farm in Whitley County and moved to Larwill in 1946. She worked at Reed-Murdoch Co, Consolidated Foods, Larwill Feed Mill and retired in 1972 from Pierceton School as cafeteria manager with 10 years of service.
Surviving are a daughter, Mary Lou Baxter, Warsaw; four grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; 12 great-great-grandchildren; a great-great-great-granddaughter; and a brother, Paul Gates, Columbia City. She also was preceded in death by a brother and four sisters.
Services will be at noon Saturday at Smith & Sons Funeral Home, Columbia City. Burial will be in Eberhard Cemetery.
Calling will be one hour prior to the service Saturday at the funeral home.
