NORTH MANCHESTER – Ruth Johnson, 83, of Silver Lake, died at 9:40 a.m. May 18, 2011, in her residence.
She was born Feb. 2, 1928, in Prestonsburg, Ky., to Bennie and Pauline Flannery Helton. On Nov. 11, 1946, she married Dennis B. Johnson, who died Feb. 13, 2006.
She worked at Controls, North Manchester,  for 19-1/2 years, retiring in 1993.
Surviving are a daughter, Shirley (and spouse Claude “Leroy”) Miller, Silver Lake; a daughter-in-law,  Vanessa Johnson, North Manchester; two brothers,  Troy Helton, Walkerton, and Roger Helton, Roann; four sisters: Sue Smith and Ethel Woodling, both of Warsaw; Dorothy (and spouse Loren) Bishop, Cicero; and Alice (and spouse Lynn) Reichert, Kirksey, Ky.; and grandchildren: Lisa (and spouse James) Jackson, Warsaw; Duane (and spouse Stacey) Boicourt, Martinsville; Dennis Wayne Johnson, Silver Lake; and Lindsey Johnson and Tabitha McCullough, both of North Manchester; and five great-grandchildren: Sheli Clemons, Milford; Tia Clemons, Warsaw; Skyler Boicourt, Martinsville; and Jayden McCullough and Skye McCullough, both North Manchester. She was preceded in death by a son, Wayne Douglas Johnson, who died Feb. 7, 2007; four brothers; and a sister.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at McKee Mortuary, 1401 Ind. 114W, North Manchester, with pastor J.P. Freeman officiating. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery, Claypool.
Calling is from 9 to 11 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
