BOURBON - Ruth E. Stolte, 84, of Plymouth, and formerly of Bourbon, died at 2:45 p.m. Dec. 2, 2010, in Miller's Merry Manor Assisted Living, with family by her side.

She was born Feb. 11, 1926, in La Porte, to Ed Goff and Ruth Modell Bennitt. On March 17, 1946, in Wanatah, she married Ralph L. Stolte, who died Jan. 22, 1995.

She was a resident of the La Porte area until moving to Bourbon in 1953. She was a graduate of Union Mills High School. She was a homemaker and worked with her husband on their dairy farm south of Bourbon until they retired in 1986 from dairy but continued to produce grain on their farm until he passed away of a brain tumor. She was a longtime member of First United Church of Christ, Bourbon, and the Red Hat Society.

Surviving are two children, Kirby Eugene (and spouse Norene A.) Stolte, Fort Wayne, and Debra K. (and spouse Rick D.) Powell, Plymouth; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; a sister, Marylin Holman, La Porte; and three brothers, Raymond Gene (and spouse Janet) Goad and Dwight A. (and spouse Eliza) Goad, all of Union Mills, and James S. (and spouse Mary Jane) Goad, Fort Worth, Texas. She was preceded in death by a son, a sister and an infant brother.

Cremation will take place. Burial will be in Patton Cemetery, near La Porte.

A memorial calling will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday at Deaton-Clemens Funeral Home, Bourbon, with Pastor Jim Irwin offering words of encouragement.
