Russell T. Biggs, 83, of Retired Tigers, Warsaw, passed away at 11:25 a.m. Oct. 7, 2012, in his residence.

He was born Dec. 26, 1928, in Hopkins County, Ky., to Edward and Inez McDonald Biggs.

He was a 30-year resident of Warsaw, and formerly worked at Bendix Corp., South Bend, for 35 years. He was a member of American Legion Post 49 and Eagles Lodge and a lifetime member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1126, all in Warsaw. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II, receiving a Victory Medal and Army of Occupation Medal, Japan.

Surviving are a son, Rusty (and spouse Susan) L. Biggs, Warsaw; a step-grandson, Chris Freedle, Warsaw; and a step-granddaughter, Angie Collins, Warsaw. He was preceded in death by his grandson, Ryan L. Biggs; two brothers; and two sisters.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, Warsaw, with Pastor EJ Underwood officiating. Burial will be in Legion Circle 2, Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw, with military honors by members of Warsaw American Legion Post 49 and VFW Post 1126.

Calling is from 3 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
