He was born Aug. 23, 1923, in Bourbon, to John Erwin and Minnie Mae Elkins Scott. On Feb. 24, 1946, he married Phyllis Anglin, who survives.
A retired carpenter, he was a member of Bourbon First United Methodist Church and Bourbon American Legion Post 424. He was a 1942 Bourbon High School graduate and a U.S. Army veteran, serving in the 11th Air Borne during World War II.
Also surviving are two daughters, P.J. (and spouse Steve) Watkins, Bourbon, and Jolene (and spouse Ross) Swinehart, Goshen; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; two sisters, Vada (and spouse Lawrence) Owens, Argos, and Trella Grossman, Akron; and a brother, Wade (and spouse Mary Lou) Scott, Albuquerque, N.M. He was preceded in death by two sisters and seven brothers.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Deaton-Clemens Funeral Home, Bourbon. Burial will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Bourbon, with a graveside military service by Bourbon American Legion.
Calling is from 10 a.m. until the time of service Wednesday at the funeral home.
