BOURBON - Russell D. Jones, 96, of 8968 N. CR 800W, Nappanee, died at 9:46 a.m. Sept. 16, 2007, in his residence.

He was born Sept. 10, 1911, in Kosciusko County, to Leander and Mary Elizabeth Watkins Jones. On Oct. 24, 1931, he married Mildred Walterhouse, who survives.

Living in the area most of his life, he graduated from Nappanee High School in 1930, and Barber School, South Bend, in 1933. He retired as a quality control inspector from RCA in 1976, and moved back to Kosciusko County to care for his mother. He was a barber in the Etna Green area, owned a barber shop in the Lafayette area from 1954-60, had been an insurance agent and co-operated a grocery store on Ind. 331 south of Bremen, from 1945-50.

Also surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Robert (Joan Jones) Cassell, West Lafayette, and Mrs. Lonnie (Judy) Miller, Lafayette; 13 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by a son, three sisters and two brothers.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Living Gospel Church, Nappanee. Burial will be in Bremen Cemetery.

Calling is from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Deaton-Clemens Funeral Home, Bourbon, and one hour prior to the service Thursday at the church.[[In-content Ad]]
