NORTH MANCHESTER – Ruby Marie Muir, 94, of North Manchester, and formerly of Bippus, died at 6:30 a.m. Jan. 3, 2013, in Peabody Healthcare Center, North Manchester.
She was born Sept. 8, 1918, in Pleasant Township, Wabash County, to Lawrence and Mary Frantz Hoover. On April 29, 1955, she married Robert H. Muir, who died Dec. 10, 1978.
She was retired from Heckman Bindery after 41 years of service. She was a member of Eel River Community Church of the Brethren, Silver Lake, and a longtime member of the former West Manchester Church of the Brethren, North Manchester, where she taught children’s Sunday school for many years. She graduated from Laketon High School 1936. She was a 50-year member of Epsilon Sigma 1609 and was named Woman of the Year for Indiana of the sorority in 2001.
Surviving are a stepdaughter, Alice (and spouse Al) Pillsbury, Huntington; two brothers, Russell (and spouse Joann) Hoover and Homer (and spouse Julia) Hoover, all of North Manchester; two sisters, Grace Metzger and Verna (and spouse Roger) Shively, all of North Manchester; a sister-in-law, LeeAnna Hoover, North Manchester; three step-grandchildren; and two step-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a stepson, Homer Muir, and two brothers, Ray and Ernest Hoover.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Timbercrest Chapel, 2201 East St., North Manchester, with Pastor Andrew Sampson and the Rev. Joan Deeter officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, North Manchester.
Calling is one hour prior to the service Sunday at Timbercrest.
