NORTH MANCHESTER - Rosie Owens, 95, formerly of Silver Lake and North Manchester, died at 7:29 p.m. Sept. 7, 2008, in Peabody Healthcare Center, North Manchester.

She was born Feb. 28, 1913, in Prestonsburg, Ky., to Alex and Caroline Prater Howard. On March 31, 1931, she married Amos Owens, who died March 2, 1985.

She was a homemaker, a farmer and a member of Gospel Hill Pentecostal Church of God, Silver Lake.

Surviving are four sons: Edward (and spouse Faye) Owens, Claypool; Earman (and spouse Ivy) Owens, Silver Lake; Earl (and spouse Kathy) Owens, Tacoma, Wash.; and Ellis (and spouse Dee) Owens, Alexandria; four daughters: Norma (and spouse Bill) Meade, and Sue (and spouse Don) Murphy, all of South Whitley; Centha McKenzie, Roann; and Bonnie (and spouse Larry) Shepherd, North Manchester; 29 grandchildren; 54 great-grandchildren; 28 step-great-grandchildren; and 16 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two daughters, four brothers, six sisters, three grandsons, a half brother and a half sister.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Gospel Hill Pentecostal Church of God, Silver Lake, with Pastor Frank Whitaker officiating. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery, Claypool.

Calling is from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. today at DeLaughter-McKee Mortuary, North Manchester.
