NORTH MANCHESTER – Rollin L. Smith, 96, of Kokomo, and formerly of North Manchester, died at 3:30 a.m. Feb. 13, 2013, in his residence.
He was born July 28, 1916, in Wabash County, to Carver and Etta Thomas Smith. On Oct. 30, 1937, he married Betty Jane Teter, who died Feb. 15, 1979. On Nov. 2, 1980, he married Montra Whiteman, who survives.
He retired as owner of Smith Plumbing & Heating Co., North Manchester. He was a World War II Air Corp veteran and was a member of Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, Wabash. He was a graduate of Chester High School, an avid fisherman and a former race car driver.
Surviving are a son, Terry (and spouse Tanya) Smith, North Manchester; a daughter, Linda Brothers; three stepsons: Bill Mulvaney, West Bloomfield, Mich.;            Steven Whiteman, Warsaw; Greg (and spouse Becky) Whiteman, Silver Lake; three stepdaughters: Kathy (and spouse James) Hunter, Kokomo; Debby (and spouse  David) Myers, North Manchester; and Teresa (and spouse Dan) Nicholas, Russiaville; a sister, Goldie Frohiep, Sturgis, Mich.; two grandchildren; 18 step-grandchildren; and 17 step-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, a stepson, two brothers, four sisters and a step-grandchild.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Feb. 23 at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, Wabash, with Richard Miller officiating.
McKee Mortuary, North Manchester, is in charge of arrangements.
