Roger E. “Freight-Train” Byrer, 62, of Claypool, died at 7:55 p.m. June 3, 2011, in Visiting Nurse and Hospice Home, Fort Wayne.
He was born Feb. 25, 1949, in Elkhart, to William and Phyllis Schlemmer Byrer. On July 13, 1976, she married Betty Warner, who survives in Claypool.
A lifetime Kosciusko County resident, he was a truck driver for 44 years, most recently working at D.R. Smith Trucking, Akron.
Also surviving are a son, Ted Byrer, Westfield; a daughter, Jenny Gardner, Helena, Ala.; two stepsons, Danny Warner and Glen Patrick, both of Claypool; two stepdaughters, Rhonda Banghart and Charlotte Campbell, both of Claypool; three sisters, Darla Frederick, Deb Smith and Carma Page; a brother, Dan Byrer; six grandchildren; nine step-grandchildren; and four step-great-grandchildren.
Services will be at noon Tuesday at McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, Warsaw, with Pastor Steve Richardson officiating. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery, Claypool.
Calling is one hour prior to the service Tuesday at the funeral home.
