He was born April 7, 1957, in Wabash, to John M. Jr. and Sadie Whitaker Crist.
He was a custodian at Timbercrest Retirement Community from 1986-2004. He graduated from Manchester High School in 1975, and studied music at Manchester College for three years. A talented musician, he was an accomplished player of several instruments.
Surviving are two aunts, Marty (and spouse Dennis) Archer, Clearwater, Fla., and Avnelle Houska, Warsaw; four uncles: James E. (and spouse Janice) Crist, Silver Lake; Albert and Delmer Whitaker, both of Warsaw; and Robie Whitaker, North Manchester; and several cousins. He was preceded in death by a brother, Russell Crist, who died in 1953.
No services are planned. Burial will be in Lakeview Cemetery, Silver Lake.
Calling is from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at McKee Mortuary, North Manchester.
