SYRACUSE - Robert Warren "Bob" Smith, 88, of Syracuse, died April 10, 2009 in V.A. Northern Indiana Healthcare, Fort Wayne.

He was born March 15, 1921, in Watertown, Mass., to Harry F. and Annie Ruth Saxsmyth Smith.

He moved to Syracuse from Oak Forest, Ill., 44 years ago and retired from Duro-Test Lighting Corp. as a salesman after many years of service. He formerly worked at Walgreen drugs for several years.

He was a World War II U.S. Navy veteran and a member of American Legion, Albion; Masonic Lodge 832, Oak Forest, Ill.; Shriners International; and United States Naval Institute. He formerly attended Calvary United Methodist Church, Syracuse.

Surviving are a daughter, Priscilla Lou (and spouse Kenneth) Davis, Massachusetts. He was preceded in death by two brothers.

A graveside service will be at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at Syracuse Cemetery with military graveside rites.

Calling is from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Owen Family Funeral Home, Syracuse.
