AKRON – Robert Ray “Bob” Rudd, 64, of 1614 Ewing Road, Rochester, and formerly of Yorktown, died at 3:30 p.m. May 11, 2012, surrounded by his devoted family at his sister’s Rochester residence.

He was born Nov. 4, 1947, in Salyersville, Ky., to Hurndon and Finettie Kraft Rudd.

He was a truck driver for various companies including TB&P Trucking, Hall Brothers Trucking and E&B Paving. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran, serving in Vietnam. He was a member of American Legion Post 446, Dalevile; Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1343, Rochester; and the Teamsters Local 716. He loved horses and going trial riding with family. He was a member of the Akron High School class of 1966. He enjoyed camping and sitting around the campfire with friends and family. He was an avid NASCAR fan.

Surviving are a daughter, Robin (and spouse Doss) Baker, Anderson; three grandchildren: Kyle, Evan and Cole Baker, all of Anderson; a step-grandson, Jordan (and spouse Malissa) Parks, Freeport, Fla.; a step-great-grandson, Alijah Parks; and four sisters: Marcella (and spouse Keith) Boyd, Karen Clark, Kathy (and spouse Ron) Moore and Debbie (and spouse Daryl) Powell, all of Rochester; three brothers, Jack Rudd and David (and spouse Linda) Rudd, all of Rochester, and  Bernard (and spouse Katie) Rudd, Denver, Ind. He was preceded in death by, his parents; a sister, Daisey Rudd; his sister-in-law, Susie Rudd; and a brother-in-law, Russell Clark.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Hartzler Funeral Home, 305 W. Rochester St., Akron, with the Rev. Amber Karkosky-Litten officiating. Burial will be in Athens-Hoover Cemetery, Athens, where graveside military rites will be conducted by members of the LeRoy Shelton American Legion Post 36 and the VFW Post 1343, both of Rochester.

Calling is from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
