ROCHESTER - Robert Leroy Timbers, 81, of 2814 Barrett Road, Rochester, died at 1:35 p.m. April 9, 2010, in Parkview Hospital, Fort Wayne, following a sudden illness.

He was born Sept. 24, 1928, in Rochester, to Robert L. and Edna Reese Timbers. On Oct. 5, 1948, in Rochester, he married Julia M. Owens, who survives.

In 1944, he started as a car hop; managed the Modern Dairy Bar for 13 years; was owner of the A&W Drive-In for 17 years and the Hamburger Hut for four years; and was former manager of the Streamliner, Rochester. He retired in 1986.

Also surviving are two daughters, Sandra (and spouse Kenneth) Slisher, Robinson, Ill., and Connie (and spouse Russell) Gunter, Star City; a son, Mark (and spouse Marsha) Timbers, Huntington; 12 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; a sister, Joyce (and spouse Richard) Clark, Albion; and a brother, Dean (and spouse Peggy) Timbers, Warsaw. He was preceded in death by a sister.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Good Family funeral Home, Rochester, with Pastor Kenneth Robinson officiating.

Calling is from 4 to 8 p.m. today and one hour prior to the service Tuesday at the funeral home.
