He was born Nov. 5, 1932, to Everett and Lulu (Kuhn) Hathaway. On June 9, 1978, in Warsaw, he married his best friend and love of his life, Vivian Brown, who surives.
He was a graduate of Pierceton High School. He was a production manager at Zimmer, retiring after 25 years. He proudly served his country as a member of the United States Army. He was creative, artistic and could fix most anything. He enjoyed gardening, staying busy keeping deer out of the garden and arborvitaes. Fishing was a favorite sport for him. Winters were spent in the Florida Keys, where he experienced backcountry fishing. He enjoyed many favorite local lakes for fishing. Bob and Vivian traveled across all 50 states, parts of Europe and many cruises including the Panama Canal. Come spring, trips to northern Michigan were made hunting for Morel mushrooms. He looked forward to watching Notre Dame sports and NASCAR races. He was fun, witty and could make us laugh, even when very sick.
Also surviving are one daughter, Cynthia (and Jerry) Kreger, Pierceton; one son, Chris (and Emmy Conley) Hathaway, Syracuse; one step-daughter, Lisa (and Dennis) Bunda, Little Rock, Ark.; five granddaughters: Julie (and Steve) Poe; Beth (and Jesse) Hite; Shelby (and Matt) Pentz; Kelsey Kreger; and Hailey Bunda; one grandson, William Bunda; and great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister.
He will be missed.
A celebration of life will be at 11 a.m. Monday at McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, Warsaw, with Pastor Toni Carmer officiating. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw.
