He was born March 12, 1929, in Nappanee, to Homer and Marjorie Shrock Hamilton. On Nov. 13, 1965, in Indianapolis, he married Patsy Hamilton, who survives in Warsaw.
He entered the United States Army Jan. 8, 1947, in Warsaw; was a neuro psychiatric technician; and was honorably discharged Dec. 10, 1948, through Valley Forge GH, Phoenixville, Pa.
He lived most of his life in the Warsaw area. He was a machinist – leadman for Clausings Inc.; and also worked for Warsaw Community Schools as a janitor. He was a former member of the Warsaw Moose Lodge; avid fisherman who fished every day; enjoyed hunting, playing bingo and working in the yard; and loved his beagles.
Also surviving are a son, Robert Hamilton Jr., Warsaw; two daughters, Patricia “Trish” (and spouse Chuck) Freeman, Warsaw, and Marjorie Hamilton, Warsaw; a stepson, Mike (and spouse Patty) Swope, Warsaw; three stepdaughters: Janet (and spouse Troy) Ousley, Claypool; Rita (and spouse Darwin) Busz and Cindy (and spouse Tim) Brown, all of Warsaw; eight grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; 12 step-grandchildren; 22 step-great-grandchildren; three step-great-great-grandchildren; and a brother, Walter Hamilton, Warsaw. He was preceded in death by a son, Randy Swope; a daughter, Suzanne Hamilton; a granddaughter, Terri Summers; a grandson, Matthew Brown; a brother, Homer Hamilton Jr.; and two sisters, Pat Hatfield and Jean Kain.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Titus Funeral Home, Warsaw, with Pastor Nick Stanton, Warsaw Community Church, officiating. Military graveside honors will be conducted by Warsaw’s American Legion Post 49 and VFW Post 1126 at Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw.
Calling is from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m Wednesday at the funeral home.
