NORTH MANCHESTER - Robert G. Shambaugh, 87, formerly of 839 W. Hill St., Wabash, died at 7:15 a.m. June 18, 2007, in Peabody Healthcare Center, North Manchester.

He was born Sept. 5, 1919, in Wabash County, to Alvah E. and Estella Wamsley Shambaugh. On Aug. 20, 1941, he married Patricia Ann O'Dell, who died July 30, 2006.

He was a project coordinator at Container Corp. of America, Wabash, retiring in October 1984. He was a lifetime member of First United Methodist Church and a member of American Legion Post 15, both in Wabash. He graduated from Wabash High School in 1938. He was an instrument flight instructor on a B-26 during World War II and was discharged as 2nd Lt. with the 2512th AAF base unit.

Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Tom (Cheryl) Wilson, North Manchester, and Mrs. Terry (Susan E.) Stewart, Wabash; a sister, Lorine Miley, Wabash; six grandchildren; and a great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by a son, two brothers and three sisters.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at First United Methodist Church, Wabash, with Pastors Chris Madison and J.P. Freeman officiating. Burial will be in Falls Cemetery, Wabash.

Calling is from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday at the church.
