He was born Feb. 11, 1924, in Decatur, to Andrew and Sarah Ledah Dailey. On Nov. 23, 1941, he married Mary Alice Johnson, who died in 1987.
He attended Marion Schools. He was a Marine for four years during World War II, attaining the rank of corporal while stationed in the South Pacific Islands. After the war, he worked for Linnegar Plumbing and Heating, Marion.
In the late 1950s, he was state representative for Grant County. In 1964, he moved to Southern California with his family, working in the pipe trades. In 1989, he retired as business manager for Southern California Pipe Trades, Local 230, San Diego, Calif.
Survivors include two daughters, Carolyn (and spouse David) Crabb and Sue Ellen Cronia; a son, Steven Dailey; six grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Peggy Kerfoot. He was preceded in death by a son, two grandsons, two brothers and two sisters.
A family memorial service will be held in Marion at a later date. No calling is planned.
