He was born Oct. 19, 1944, in Rochester, to Robert D. and Verlie J. Bradley Van Lue. On Nov. 29, 1985, in Rochester, he married Nancy Lyons Heinzmann, who survives.
He was a U.S. Navy veteran and had graduated from Ivy Tech in respiratory therapy. He had worked as a respiratory therapist for Norrell Health Agency and had been a life and health insurance salesman. He was a member of the Antioch Baptist Church and the American Legion.
Also surviving are his children: Tina (and spouse Lawrence) Rose, Diamond, Ohio; Larry (and spouse Amy) Van Lue, Portland, Ind.; and Wenonah (and spouse Joseph) Maitland, Rochester; step-children, Michelle (and spouse Steve) Hunsberger, Argos; Carmen (and spouse Brad) Wilson, Amy Heinzmann (and companion Todd Behny), all of Akron; and Rebecca Heinzmann and Alyson Heinzmann (and companion Justin Bradley), all of Rochester; eight grandchildren; 16 step-grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two step-great-grandchildren; and a brother, Larry Van Lue, Hornbeak, Tenn. He was preceded in death by a brother and a sister.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Zimmerman Bros. Funeral Home, Rochester, with the Rev. Jerry Pittman officiating. Burial will be in Mount Zion Cemetery, southeast of Rochester, with military graveside services by member of Rochester American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars posts.
Calling is two hours prior to the service Thursday at the funeral home.
