BOURBON - Robert E. Augustine, 86, of 504 Lincoln St., Bourbon, died Feb. 23, 2008, in his residence, in the care of his family and Hospice.

He was born Dec. 16, 1921, in Westville, to Elvin Martin and Edythe Pauline Plant Augustine. On Nov. 3, 1945, he married Naomi June Sickmiller, who survives.

He was a resident of the Bourbon area most of his life. He worked at R.R. Donnelly, Warsaw, retiring in March, 1985. He owned and operated Augustine Home Service. He was a 1940 Bourbon High School graduate. He was a faithful member of Bourbon First United Methodist Church. He served in the U.S. Air Force, serving four years in the South West Pacific during World War II, and in the 13th Air Force for two years.

Also surviving are three children: Edith Eileen (and spouse Robert) Baker, Plainfield; James Robert Augustine, Bourbon; and Celeste Ann (and spouse Bill) Reed, Denver, Ind.; grandchildren; Michelle Renee Reynolds Casaz, Robyn Lynn Reynolds Keller, Jenifer Nicole Augustine Miller and Adam James Augustine; and great-grandchildren, Jessica Casaz and Abigail and Nathan Christopher Miller. He was preceded in death by a brother, Paul Augustine, who died Sept. 20, 2005.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Bourbon First United Methodist Church. with Rev. Mark Day officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Bourbon, with military graveside services by members of Bourbon American Legion.

Calling is from 1 p.m. until the time of service Wednesday at the church.

Deaton-Clemens Funeral Home is in charge of local arrangements.
