Robert Daniel Fisher, 85, Chapman Lake, Warsaw, died at 1:07 p.m. Dec. 12, 2009, in Florida Heartland Hospital, Sebring, Fla.

He was born June 24, 1924, in Huntington, to Leland and Nancy Wall Fisher. On Aug. 29, 1946, in New Albany, he married Jean Inez Arlene Rittenhouse, who survives.

He was a farmer and a railroader for the Erie, Erie Lackawanna, Penn Central and ConRail railroads. He served in the Army during World War II as a cook and a medic, receiving two Purple Hearts. He also was an avid fisherman on Chapman Lake. After retiring from ConRail, he founded Rocking R Hobby Horse and built them for more than 30 years.

Also surviving are his children, Roberta Fisher Sims, South Whitley; Judy Ann (and spouse Bobby) Stevens, Warsaw; Robert Emmerson (and spouse Kay) Fisher, Saint Cloud, Fla.; and Joseph Dale Fisher, Warsaw; 11 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters; a brother; an infant son, Richard Allen; and a son-in-law, Willis "Bill" James Sims Jr.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, Warsaw, with Pastor Gale Janofski officiating. Burial will be at Star of Hope Cemetery, Huntington.

Calling is from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
