NAPPANEE - Robert D. Parcell, 85, of 708 Thwaits Court, Syracuse, died at 1:45 a.m. Oct. 7, 2007, in his residence.

He was born Sept. 9, 1922, in Nappanee, to Jesse Clifford and Bernetha Hunt Parcell. On Oct. 2, 1948, in Monticello, he married Lucille Guard, who survives.

A lifetime area resident, he retired from Vitreous Steel Products, Nappanee, after 35 years. He was a U.S. Army veteran serving with the 52nd Engineers in the Pacific Theater. He was a member of Nappanee American Legion and a life member of Nappanee Veterans of Foreign Wars.

Also surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Bill (Jane) Musser and Vicky Blosser, both of Syracuse, and Mrs. Lee (Jan) Barnhart, South Bend; a son, Jim Parcell, Columbus, Ind.; eight grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Waneta Young, Nappanee. He was preceded in death by a son, a daughter, a grandson, four brothers and three sisters.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Thompson-Lengacher & Yoder Funeral Home, Nappanee, with the Rev. Harlen Steffen officiating. Burial will be in Bremen Cemetery with military graveside services by members of Nappanee American Legion and VFW.

Calling is from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
