COLUMBIA CITY – Robert “Bob” Roman Laux, 71, Roanoke, died April 17, 2015, after a farming accident involving a tractor off of Keiser Road in Whitley County.
He was born Sept. 4, 1943, in Huntington, to Robert A. and Pauline Schuman Laux. On June 6, 1964, he married Laura Lee Brown, his loving wife of 50 years, who survives.
He graduated from Columbia City Joint High School with the Class of 1961. He worked 31 years for BF Goodrich, retiring in 1993, and then worked 15 years for the State Highway Department. Throughout his life though, he was a dedicated farmer.
Also surviving are five children: Robert (and spouse Rhonda), Randall (and spouse Debra) and Kenneth (and spouse Diana) Laux, Rita (and spouse Dan) Dailey, all of Columbia City; and Joseph (and spouse Jessica) Laux, South Whitley; his four siblings: Charlie (and spouse Sherri) Laux, Ashley; Susie (and spouse Robert) Hudson and Judy (and spouse Rod) Powell, all of Fort Wayne; John (and spouse Joanne) Laux, Brookfield, Wis.; 15 grandchildren: Brad, Rachel, Brittney, Derek Hauck, Jenna Shenefield Dezer-Ray, Sam, Kyle, Rebecca, Brooke, JoLyn, Kaleb, Brianna, Kameron and Jackson; and three great-grandchildren: Kiera, Kallie and a great-grandson on the way. He was preceded in death by his parents; infant daughter, Deborah Jean Laux; and infant grandson, Matthew James Dailey.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at DeMoney-Grimes, a Life Story Funeral Home, 600 Countryside Drive, Columbia City.
Calling is from 2 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
