Robert "Bob" N. Johnson Sr., 68, of 914 Fisher Ave., Warsaw, died at 10:47 p.m. March 24, 2011, at Kosciusko Community Hospital ER, Warsaw.

He was born Feb. 4, 1943, in Warsaw, to Oliver N. and Eileen (Burkholder) Johnson. On Oct. 27, 1961, he married Phyllis Sue Arnett, who survives.

He was a lifetime resident of Warsaw, where he was a 1961 graduate of Warsaw High School, and retired from Warsaw Chemical. He was a lifelong competitor, an avid stock car driver at Warsaw Speedway and surrounding tracks. He was an enthusiastic Warsaw Tiger fan, and coached many of his children's and grandchildren's sports teams.

He will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Phyllis Sue Johnson, Warsaw; one daughter, Brenda (and spouse James) Prater, Warsaw; two sons, Robert Jr. (and spouse Vicki) Johnson, Warsaw, and Brian (and spouse Laura) Johnson, New Jersey; three grandchildren, Trey Johnson, Zach Webb and Tyler Johnson, all of Warsaw; two sisters, Nancy (and spouse Alan) Mitterling, Warsaw, and Lannis Bright, California; one brother, Roger Czerwin, California; and his special racing partner, Jr. Stafford. He was preceded in death by his parents and his stepmother, Ethel Johnson.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Redpath-Fruth Funeral Home, Warsaw, with Pastor Chad Burkhart officiating. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw.

Calling is from noon to 4 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
