He was born March 5, 1934, in Chicago, Ill., to Paul and Susan Yurik Kachlik. On April 21, 1956, in Chicago, Ill., he married Rita Florence Rehus, who survives.
He was a U.S. Navy veteran, serving on the USS Rooks DD804 MM Destroyer. After his discharge, he worked at R.R. Donnelley & Sons for 43 years as a quality consultant, retiring in 1994.
He was a very devoted and loving husband, father and grandfather.
Also surviving are his children: Diana (and spouse Rob) Blazekovich, Marion; Cheryl (and spouse Nick) Schortgen, Karen (and spouse Pat) Houlihan and Michael Robert Kachlik, all of Fort Wayne; Lisa (and spouse Steve) Kroh, Wabash; and Brenda (and spouse Joe) McKee of St. Louis, Mo.; 21 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his older brother, William Kachlik.
A service of Christian burial will be at noon Saturday at McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, 2290 Provident Court, Warsaw, with Father Philip DeVolder officiating. Burial will be at a later date in Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw.
Calling is from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday with a rosary at 7:30 p.m. and from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday at the funeral home.
