He was born Aug. 2, 1941, in LaGrange, to George and Doris Anderson Floring. On March 1, 1986, in Warsaw, he married Nancy Adams, who survives.
Formerly of LaGrange and Warsaw, he was a 1960 graduate of South Bend Central High School and attended the Indiana College of Mortuary Science. After graduating he worked in the funeral service before becoming sheriff of LaGrange County, where he served from 1971-74. He was a charter member of LaGrange Moose and a member of the Free and Accepted Mason, Mesick, Mich., and Scottish Rite. He was retired and most recently worked at Allied Security at DePuy, Warsaw. He was a loving person and never knew a stranger. He loved playing golf, participating in the annual cancer golf outing. He enjoyed riding his John Deere tractor and visiting with friends and neighbors. He spent many Saturday afternoons supporting his beloved Fighting Irish of Notre Dame. But most of all, he loved spending time on the lake with his wife of 23 years and Heidi, his loving dog.
Also surviving are a daughter, Diane Floring, Beech Grove; a brother, Bill (and spouse Joanne) Floring, Minnetonka, Minn.; and two grandchildren, Ashley and Kyle, both of California. He was preceded in death by his parents and a son, Jim.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Mishler-Eastlund Funeral Home, Milford, with Pastor Dennis Judy officiating. Burial will be in Leesburg Cemetery.
Calling is from 3 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and one hour prior to the service Thursday at the funeral home.
