Robert 'Bob' Earl Rohlfing

He was born June 2, 1929, in Dunkirk to Robert Gephart and Hazel Gephart Garringer Rohlfing. In 1950 he was married to Wanda Agatha Welch Rohlfing, who passed away in June 2005.
He was a 1947 graduate of Dunkirk High School. Afterwards he enlisted in the U.S. Army from 1950 until his honorable discharge in 1952. He studied at Purdue University, graduating in 1956 with a degree in mechanical engineering. After graduation in 1956, he was employed with General Motors in Anderson, working there until his retirement in 1994. After retirement he moved to Tippecanoe Lake and has been a resident of Kosciusko County for the past 20 years. He was a lead singer and saxophone player in his own band, played bridge, and was actively involved in the American Legion Post #253, North Webster.
He will be lovingly remembered by his son, Robert “Bob” Rohlfing, Fort Wayne; a daughter, Deborah (and spouse Steve) Schmidt, Boca Raton, Fla.; six grandchildren: Carissa Bayer, Stephanie Montini, Katie Schmidt, Amber Dippon, Ashley and Brock Rohlfing; six great-grandchildren: Brady Stout, Ciara Stout, Hunter Dippon, Siena and Jack Bayer, Luca Montini. He was preceded in death by his parents and his daughter-in-law, Cindy, who died in 2012.
A graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Oakwood Cemetery with military rites conducted by the North Webster American Legion Post #253 and officiated by Pastor Todd Gerst of Warsaw Community Church. For those wishing to attend the graveside services, the procession will leave Redpath-Fruth Funeral Home, 225 Argonne Road, Warsaw, at 10:50 a.m.
Calling will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday the funeral home.
