Robert 'Bob' Blackford

Robert "Bob" Blackford, 86, of Warsaw, died at 4:40 a.m. March 25, 2007, in Miller's Merry Manor, Warsaw.

He was born April 24, 1920, in Peabody, to Joseph and Sarah Selvers Blackford. In 1939, he married Frances Smith, who died in 1980. In November 1982, he married Zelda Sarber Brubaker, who survives.

Moving to the Warsaw area from Tippecanoe in 1939, he was vice president and general manager of Union Tool Co., retiring after 39 years. He was a member of Cook's Chapel Church and American Legion Post 49, both in Warsaw. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and earned his pilot's license.

Also surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Herb (Anne) Bailey, Warsaw; a son, Mike (and wife Carol) Blackford, Warsaw; three stepdaughters: Susan Conley, Peg Jervus and Rusty Brubaker, all of Warsaw; 11 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; two brothers; and six sisters. He was preceded in death by three sisters, three brothers and a stepson, John Brubaker.

Services will be at noon Wednesday at McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, Warsaw, with Pastor Marvin "Hank" Lowman officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw.

Calling is one hour prior to the service Wednesday at the funeral home.
