NAPPANEE – Robert Allen Walters Sr., 76, of 702 E. Marion St., Nappanee, died at 8:15 a.m. April 28, 2012, in his residence, from pancreatic cancer.

He was born July 30, 1935, in Champaign, Ill., to Clarence A. and D. Faye Bauman Waters. On June 13, 1953, in Plymouth, he married Virginia Ellen Lemler, who survives.

He was a 1953 Nappanee High School graduate and worked at Mutschler Kitchens for 28 years, Nappanee Wood Products for six years and Bremtown Kitchens for 13 years before retiring. He was a member of First Church of God, Certified Kitchen Designers and American Society Interior Decorators.

Also surviving are a son, Robert A. Jr. (and spouse Jeanette D.) Waters, Nappanee; a daughter, Vivian L. (and spouse Gary D.) Hughes, Nappanee; six grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Zelma L. Hartman, Norfolk, Va. He was preceded in death by a son and a granddaughter.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at New Paris Church of the Brethren with the Rev. Stan Godrey officiating, assisted by the Rev. Robert Fields. Burial will be in Bremen Cemetery.

Calling is from 1 to 3 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Thompson-Lengacher & Yoder Funeral Home, Nappanee, and one hour prior to the service Monday at the church.
