Robbery Staged

According to Warsaw Police, Jeremy Conover, 19, of 501 Kech St., North Manchester, staged a robbery Aug. 31 at Murphy's Oil, 2500 Walton Boulevard, Warsaw, where Conover worked as a clerk.[[In-content Ad]]Police said Conover reported that a hooded male opened the side door of the business and demanded money, cigarettes and lottery tickets while stating he had a gun.
Within five hours of the incident, some of the lottery tickets taken from Murphy's were redeemed at five different locations in Marion and LaFountain by a Jason Spriggs, 25, also of North Manchester.
Spriggs admitted to police that the robbery was staged, and stated he was approached by Conover to participate.
Spriggs told police he later gave the money and the cigarettes to Conover.
Conover was booked into Kosciusko County Jail on charges of theft and false police reporting on a $2,000 bond.
Charges are pending on Spriggs due to the fact the stolen lottery tickets were redeemed in a different county.
