Though heavy rain has subsided in the area, flooding continues to close roads and has exhausted resources in the county.

The Indiana Department of Transportation Wednesday announced Ind. 14 between CRs 300E and 400E is now closed due to a large void, or washout, in the eastbound lane.

The void is located over a culvert pipe, which is being replaced. The 17-mile detour is via Ind. 15, Ind. 114, and Ind. 13. The pipe is expected to be replaced by late next week, weather permitting.

INDOT advises motorists to never drive through flooded roadways or drive around barriers warning that a road is flooded.

Emergency Management Director Ed Rock advised drivers this morning to use caution when driving on roads affected by flooding.

"First of all, don't drive through water," said Rock. "That's understood. But also use caution when driving on these roads because they are deteriorating quickly. These roads have taken a beating from mother nature."

Rock advised to allow for extra time if traveling on roads that are open but have been affected by flooding.

Residents can pick up sandbags at either 1401 W. Center St., Warsaw, in Boggs Industrial Park at the east parking lot, or at 2000 W. Winona Ave., Warsaw, in the east parking lot.

Presley also advised to avoid stepping in flooded areas in contact with wall outlets, appliances or power cords and to use caution dealing with downed power lines.
