NORTH WEBSTER – Richard S. “Dick” Zolman, 89, of North Webster, died at 8:41 a.m. Aug. 1, 2011, in Lutheran Hospital of Indiana, Fort Wayne.

He was born Sept. 14, 1921, in Athens, to Dewey L. and Mary A. Clingenpeel Zolman. On March 11, 1972, in South Bend, he married June Buckingham, who survives.

He graduated from Akron High School in 1940 and served in the U.S. Air Force during World War II and the Korean War. He moved to the Warsaw area from South Bend in 1975, where he had lived for many years. He formerly worked at Counting House Insurance Agency, Warsaw, for 12 years and retired in 1998 from Hall & Marose Agency Inc., Warsaw, after 50 years in the insurance industry. He was a member of American Legion Post 253, North Webster, and a former member of Moose Lodge, Elks, Veterans of Foreign Wars and Disabled American Veterans, all in Warsaw, and the Eagles Lodge, Mishawaka.

Also surviving are a daughter, Charlene (and spouse Kenneth) Wurtsbaugh, Mishawaka; a stepdaughter, Melinda Groeneweg, Atwood; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son  and a sister.

A graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Riverview Cemetery, South Bend.

Calling is from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Owen Family Funeral Home, North Webster, with military services by members of American Legion Post 253.
