He was born Jan. 28, 1934, in Warsaw, to Paul and Ruby Jamison Wilson. He was married to Jan Behrns, who survives in Casper.
He attended school and graduated from high school in Warsaw. He found his way to Rock Springs, Wyo., where he met and married Jan, who was teaching at Western Wyoming Community College. They had a lively and fun marriage that lasted for nearly 50 years.
They moved to Casper, Wyo., in 1969, where he was in sales and retailing. He had two stores in the Sunrise Shopping Center and, later, started a small construction company and worked in real estate sales. He retired, was extremely bored, and went back to work for Xerox at Atlas Reproduction.
He was elected to the Casper City Council in 1996. During his term, he served on the Regional Water Board, as well as numerous other boards and committees. He enjoyed his work on the council very much.
His two passions in life were golf and travel. He was an avid golfer, playing in and winning numerous tournaments throughout the state. One of his fondest memories was playing twice in the Andy Williams Pro-Am in Pebble Beach with all the celebrities. Ill health forced him to discontinue playing golf, but he continued to love the sport. He loved to travel, taking numerous European vacations with his family. He had a true love of life. He enjoyed meeting people and experiencing different cultures. He was always planning the next “big adventure.”
He will be remembered for his generous heart, his amazing sense of humor and his great zest for life. He was a devoted husband and father. He will be truly missed.
Also surviving are two daughters, Wendy, Casper, and Kris Ellen Schenkel, Warsaw; a son, Kirk Wilson, Los Angeles, Calif., from a previous marriage; two brothers, Phil (and spouse Jean), Denver, Colo., and Jim (and spouse Barb) Riverside, Calif.; a sister, Patsy Brallier, Winona Lake; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Celebration United Methodist Church, 1289 S. CR 250E, Winona Lake.
